Stainless steel: resistant to air, steam, water and other weak corrosive media or stainless steel. The steel grades usually used are 304, 304L, 316, 316L, which are 300 series steel of austenitic stainless steel.
Performance introduction
304 stainless steel is the most common steel, as a widely used steel, has good corrosion resistance, heat resistance, low temperature strength and mechanical properties; Stamping, bending and other hot processing is good, no heat treatment hardening phenomenon (non-magnetic, then use the temperature -196℃ ~ 800℃).
In general, 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel have little difference in chemical corrosion resistance, but there is a difference in some specific media.
The first developed stainless steel is 304 stainless steel, which is more sensitive to Pitting Corrosion in certain cases. Adding an additional 2-3% of molybdenum can reduce this sensitivity, so that 316 is born. In addition, this additional molybdenum can also reduce the corrosion of certain hot organic acids.
In most cases, the corrosion resistance of 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel is not much different, but in some cases it may be very different, which needs to be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. Generally speaking, valve users should have a good idea, because they will choose the material of the container and pipeline according to the medium, and we do not recommend materials to users.
